Convincing Winners

Determined after last weeks penalty shoot-out defeat in the final of the Skipton Tournament, the Dragons were breathing fire from the off today. No messing about, the results were convincing and again finishing top of the group wining every game without conceding.

The Semi-final was no different, confident and on a high a 2 - 0 win against the hosts Westwood Jets secured our place in the Final against Bolton Woods. It took a while to break the defensive strategy down (and a fantastic keeping display) from Bolton Woods, but after a relentless barrage up popped Josh Elliott making no mistake with a half cleared ball burying in to the back of the net through the only gap that appeared, what a strike! We continued with the pressure making great moves, one finished in his true classic style, Lewis Gartland drilling it through slim gap between the post and keeper 2 - 0 and a win was secured.

To win every game without conceding is a fantastic achievement and a testament to an on-form team this season. Todays team was made up of the following:

Sam Brockbank. I consider to be the best keeper around, had a great game commanding his area and made some amazing saves.....as usual!
Charlie Whitehead. A solid performance and 'sweeping' display at the back. Made the most of the opportunities to run forward causing the opposition problems.
Joe Armitage. A great performance today particularly in the final, determined and worked hard. Got himself a great goal in the semi!
Daniel Barnes. Stepped up today from defence into midfield and had a great game, playing some great through balls.
Lewis Gartland. Looked comfortable today and had a typical display pulling opposition teams all over switching from left to right, some great goals!
Josh Elliott. Our solid central midfielder, another great performance topped off with a very good goal in the final!
Harry Whitaker. Another that stepped up from his usual position today in midfield, a solid performance with some amazing 'twinkle toe' moments.
Jaylan Camsey. Got himself into some good positions today resulting in some good goals. Great effort.
Spencer Bennett. Took him a couple of games to find his feet, but once he did he made it hard for defences, finished off some good goals.

13 Goals. 0 against.
