Knights tame Tigers

On a warm, spring morning the Knights welcomed Idle Tigers to Silsden. This was a chance for the more experienced Knights to test themselves against higher opposition (Tigers played a lot of football in 7B then C league) and they did brilliantly! Whilst the Tigers were without a couple of main players (due to the holidays) they brought a strong team and for the Knights to be 2-1 up going into the last quarter was great to see. One of the Knights goals come from some brilliant controlled passing that we work on in training and for it to happen in the game and with the desired outcome was very pleasing. Logan (playing in goal) rolled the ball out to Will who (in having a group of hungry Tigers running at him) played the ball forward and wide to the left to Oscar where he controlled the ball, waited for the defending Tiger to make his move before playing Freddie through who (with Tigers giving chase) held his nerve and slotted the ball past the Tigers goalkeeper. Brilliant!

Match Timeline: 1st Quarter: D 0-0; 2nd Quarter: L 0-1; 3rd Quarter: W 2-0; 4th Quarter: L 0-2. Final Score: 2-3.

Logan: Goalkeeper and to say this was his first game in goal you wouldn't have thought so. Good saves, came off his line and was controlled. Opposition Player of the Match. WELL DONE LOGAN!

Will: Defender and what a game he had! I doubt I have seen Will play a better game than he did today. Tackled, battled, stopped attacks, controlled the ball and passed out from the back, ran the ball forward when he needed to and was alert all the time. Parents Player of the Match AND Coach's Player of the Match. WELL DONE WILL!

Patrick: Midfield and ran his heart out. Always gives 100%, made some good yards with the ball, taking the ball off the opposition before setting off on a run, keeping the ball under control, and striving to go forward every time. Strong, tough and battled throughout which, at times, does boil over but this is down to his desire to win at all costs. WELL DONE PATRICK!

Finlay: Midfield and was all over the pitch. Never gave up and was prepared to go toe-to-toe battling for the ball in the tackle. Made some good runs forward and passed well. Only his third game (I think) and improving all the time. WELL DONE FINLAY!

Freddie: Centre Forward and scored both our goals! Was up and down the pitch and always looking for the ball to go on an attacking run. Now looking for and finding the space he needs to allow teammates to play the balls into him and took his goals well. WELL DONE FREDDIE!

Oscar: Started as sub having played in the previous game against Sutton. Game on in Midfield and gave a strong and consistent performance. Tackled, used his size and strength to good effect, battled, controlled the football and always looking to make a pass where possible. WELL DONE OSCAR!
