Rogues run amok in final quarter

On a warm, spring morning with the sun beaming down we welcomed Sutton to Silsden. The game was a closer encounter than the score line suggests as for three quarters the less experienced Knights did brilliantly against a good Sutton side who have being playing their football in 7E division. It was only in the final quarter where the tired Knights were struggling did Sutton capitalise doubling their tally scoring with five goals without conceding. The players should take a lot of positives away from this performance as they each did the best they could against an experienced opposition.

Match Timeline: 1st Quarter: L 0-1; 2nd Quarter: L 0-2; 3rd Quarter: L 0-2; 4th Quarter: L 0-5. Final Score: 0 - 10

Felix: Played the first half in goal making some good saves before playing the second half in an attacking forward position, went looking for the ball, passed well and enjoyed moments of running with the ball and taking the opposition on. WELL DONE FELIX!

Oscar: Played in defense, broke down attacks, tackled, cleared the lines, made some forward runs, passed the ball to teammates in space and spoke to and encouraged his teammates. Coach's Player of the Match. WELL DONE OSCAR!

Joshua: Played in midfield, he was all over the pitch, doesn't shy away from getting stuck in, made some good, strong tackles, cleared the lines when required and gave his usual full blooded, battling performance. WELL DONE JOSHUA!

Xander: Played the first half in midfield, comfortable with the ball, making forward runs and getting all over the pitch. Played the second half in goal and did very well considering Sutton were finding more and more opportunities to threaten the Knights goal but did what he could making some good saves and diving all over. Parents Player of the Match. WELL DONE XANDER!

Harry: Played as centre forward, didn't get any scoring opportunities but was all over the pitch, coming back to help in defence and midfield, passing the ball and clearing the lines with his strong kick. WELL DONE HARRY!

Violet: Playing her very first game and she did brilliant. Started off quiet (nerves) but as soon as she got the ball you could see her gaining and growing with confidence more and more as she settled in. Tackled, passed and ran with the ball. Opposition Player of the Match. WELL DONE VIOLET!
