Elusive home win .....

Praying to the weather Gods by some of the Dragons team must have worked because the forecasted snow didn’t materialise and the pitch was deemed playable at a dawn inspection.
And so a long-awaited home fixture against visitors Eldwick was on !
The match got off to a whirlwind start with both sides trying to stamp their authority on the match . And it was the usual back 3 of Euan , Archie N and Jack who were soon taking control of any Eldwick attacks. The midfield 4 of Archie P, Billy, Alfie L and Alfie S were soon raining balls into the Eldwick defense but there seemed to be no way through the Eldwick keeper despite good efforts from Evan, Alfie L and Billy.
Against the run of play, Eldwick broke the deadlock with a thunderous effort that Alex almost got his fingertips to ... 0-1.
Silsden redoubled their efforts and started really playing their passing game and at times it was too hot for Eldwick to handle. Encouraged by the loyal Home supporters they nearly equalised on various occasions . It felt like if they’d scored the floodgates would have opened and two or three more goals would have followed. Harry came on to replace Alfie L during this period and was like a tornado chasing down the opposition.
However, an equaliser was not to be and Eldwick increased their lead with a close range effort that agonisingly trickled over the line.
So Silsden went into the second half with an undeserved two goal deficit and went further behind with a well-taken shot by Eldwick slotted low into the corner shortly into the second half.
The Dragons, encouraged by their coaches and fans went all out to get back into the game. Alex was distributing well from the back and with resolute and robust defending from our great defence it wasn’t long before the midfield were breezing past Eldwick and creating many good chances. After a break on the sidelines when Harry again deputised brilliantly, Billy was put through on goal and after a lightening run and ice-cool finish the Dragons had got the goal they deserved.
The tie finished 1-3 which did not reflect the quality of the Dragons play and this reporter thinks it won’t be long before they inflict a heavy defeat on the opposition with a deluge of goals .
