In true Dragon style the team were on fire today despite the dampness of the morning!

2 quick goals within 3 minutes; is this the Dragons we know? The first goal came in the second minute from a fantastic Joe Armitage corner, whipping the ball in with pace and met with an unchallenged but purposeful header by Jaylan Camsey. The second a minute later with strong dominance from the midfield players threading a great ball through for Camsey to claim his second.

Shell shocked, Cosmos began to settle the game down with some good passing and attacking movement, but just not strong enough to break through the solid defence made up of Josh Elliot, Harry Whitaker and George Ellison who stood firm on every attack.

Dragons midfield dominated the play, chasing everything down and not allowing Cosmos to play. Some great runs down the right wing in the first half and down his usual position of the left wing in the second half by Lewis Gartland, great one/two touch football and whipping in many crosses. A solid performance by the central midfielders, Daniel Barnes, Sam Ayik (weaving runs and almost a self made goal) lead by Charlie Barnes who had a great holding game, stopping many attempted plays and feeding many attacks.

Out on the left, not his usual position, but just as effective, Joe Armitage relentless with his strong attacking play and fantastic crosses, unlucky not get on the score sheet himself. Will Moffat, placed on the right wing, his runs were penetrating making 2 great and composed goals of his own, and stepped up in the right place to secure his hat trick. He also played a great ball across behind the defensive line for Camsey to slot his 3rd away.

Let's not take anything away from Cosmos, there were 4 good attempts, 3 of which were superbly saved (top class saves!) by an on form Sam Brockbank who raised his game today with a commanding voice from the back, great to hear! An unfortunate lapse of concentration, left a high ball unchallenged which was met with a good finish by Cosmos to claim a consolation goal.

This is the best team performance in a long time by the Dragons, each and every player worked 110% for the team and as a team and it showed! It's what I'd call a commanding TEAM performance....the Bar is set boys!
