All players showed how strong they are and we look forward to the games ahead.

It was a rather cold Sunday morning for the first game of the season. All players were excited to get the season underway.

We started the game very strong with some excellent movement through Toby and Olivia in midfield. Charlie managed to test the keeper with shots from range and also close up to the net. Excellent defensive tackles from Harry and saves from goalkeeper Thomas made us the stronger team. However, we were caught on counter attacks from very good attacking positions to be 2 goals down by the end of the first quarter.

There was a change of lineup going into the second quarter. Aaron was our box to box midfielder, chasing the ball all over the pitch and winning the ball in most tackles. Ethan put in some very strong tackles in the middle of the park and some amazing tackles were made by Abi in defense, again making us the much the stronger side. The turning point for us was an excellent strike from inside the area by Noah to pull us back into the game. Later on in the half he struck the crossbar with an effort from range. And sweeper keeper Thomas stopped Skipton when they were on the break. There was a switch around half way into the 2nd quarter, which introduced Jack into the game. Jack managed to fill in very well in the centre of the park making excellent tackles and offensive dribbles.

In the third quarter there were more attacking dribbles from the twins (Charlie & Olivia) and more excellent defensive tackles from Harry- he almost managed to score from our own half! Toby almost managed to dribble through the whole of the Skipton team. Olivia and Charlie both nearly got onto the score sheet however their shots pulled just wide of the posts.

In the fourth quarter, first half goal scorer Noah grabbed a second goal to bring us back into the game. Thomas stepped outfield and put in some marvellous tackles and dribbles. The coach swapped the team around to try and get everybody involved in the final quarter. Abi was very strong and brave to take the ball to the face and still manage to come back on later in the quarter. In the final few minutes, Noah managed to grab his hat-trick with a powerful strike from the right hand side into the bottom left hand corner. Superb performance from all 10 players throughout the game. We were by far the stronger side however fitness managed to kick in in the final few minutes.

We lost the game 5-3, but it was a learning curve for both teams and coaches, as all players had an outstanding performance and showed how strong they can be. We will go into the next game with a positive attitude.

A great start to hopefully a great season!
