We nearly did it until other teams better finishing won them the game!

We lost two players from last weeks game and brought 4 new ones in.

This meant that we lost a little bit of our composure that we had built with the team we had last week. It was still a good match for us with good performances and a lot of effort put in by all.

As last weeks game we had the game split up into 4 quarters and this meant it gave us a chance to talk about how the game was going etc but it proved to be a pain for the opposition who has 9 players to sort out!

Q1
We started quite well but Calverley showed a lot of strength with a few of their players being much bigger than ours. Thomas made a few good stops coming off his line quickly but in the end the pressure told and we conceeded just before the end of the quarter.

Q2
This was a good quarter as we started to battle well for the ball and got a few chances that we didn't put away until James got away and put in past the keeper confidently. Unfortunately this was just after Calverley scored so we finished this quarter 2-1 down.

Q3
Out best quarter of the match as we stormed forward as Toby went in goal for Thomas and Thomas played a different role breaking forward and showing good speed. It's a wonder that he didn't score but his hard work got us a corner that Callum scored from after a pass from James. James then also had another good shot that put us in front in the match. We conceeded just before the end of the quarter as we got caught out having too many up field to leave the scores at 3-3.

Q4
With Thomas back in goal we continued to press with Toby running well with the ball and both Callum and Olivia pushing Calverley back into their own half. As it was, we had a couple of chances as James broke away to put us back in front and then fell to the sucker punch as two goals late in the quarter meant we lost the match 5-3.

Great effort from all the kids - both the twins in their first match showed a lot of effort although we really need to sort out Olivias shoe laces (came off 5 times to get them done up!). Callum after a bit of reticence showed a good willingness to run with the ball and on another day might have got a couple more goals.

Overall a really good showing by Silsden and we look forward to the next match!
