Fantastic game played out by two evenly matched teams ends in an exciting 4 - 4 draw after last minute equaliser.

1st Quarter
William (GK), Will L (Harry MS), Ollie, Lennon, Thomas and Edward.
Superb start by the Dragons, they dominated the play in all departments, showing great tackling, pressure and super passing. It was the early pressure that helped put our boys in front, Lennon nicking the ball away from the defender and racing away to score with a powerful shot. 1 – 0. A nice long pass from Lennon set Thomas free to fire home, giving the Dragons a well-deserved 2 – 0 lead. However, for all our dominance Dudley Hill are a very good team, with pace up front and they broke away from our boys to grab a goal against the run of play. 2 – 1. This didn’t stop the Dragons though and they added a third after a fantastic run and pass by Thomas setup Edward to finish at the back post. 3 – 1.
3 – 1
2nd Quarter
Harry MS (GK), Will L, William, Lennon, Thomas, Edward.
The Dragons started the second quarter in much the same manner as the first dominating the play. In contrast to the first quarter though they couldn’t turn the dominance into goals. Both Edward and Thomas unfortunate not to add to their first quarter efforts. Dudley Hill took advantage and broke away from a Dragons attack, again showing great pace to get away from our boys and score a second. 3 – 2. After this effort the game became a much closer battle and very much end to end stuff. We started to lose our shape and increasingly Will L was left on his own at the back. The warning signs were there when Harry MS made a brave block at the feet of a Dudley Hill player. The quarter ended with Harry MS unlucky not to stop a powerful long range effort which made it 3 – 3.
3 – 3
3rd Quarter
Ollie (GK), Will L, William, Harry MS, Edward, Lennon.
Dudley Hill inspired by this fight back dominated the third quarter. They started to man mark Edward which posed problems for us as we no longer had an “out ball”. I switched Lennon to striker and Edward to midfield to try a counter this but I think it just confused the boys. With Lennon, Harry MS and Edward struggling with positions and not getting back to help out defensively. Ollie, Will L and William did a superb job keeping us in the game. Ollie was fantastic in goal making two excellent saves. Will L and William clearing the ball and defending well.
3 – 3
4th Quarter
Ollie (GK), Will L, Harry T, William (Harry MS), Thomas, Lennon (Edward).
The Dragons roared back in the final quarter! Adding Thomas back into midfield made a big difference, he was on fire today, a really little midfield general in the making! We dominated again and midway through the quarter Lennon pounced on a loose ball to grab a forth. 4 – 3. After putting in so much effort it was only natural that the boys started to tire so I swapped out William and Lennon for Harry MS and Edward. The game looked to be won but in a last minute lapse Dudley Hill again broke from a Dragons attack and we were punished by that pace 4 – 4.
4 – 4
Summary.
Overall the draw was probably a fair result against a very good Dudley Hill team. I think that this could go down as one of the best performances by the Dragons so far this season. Thomas was outstanding today and was an obvious choice for player of the match. William, Harry MS and Ollie all did a great job in sharing the goalkeeping duties. Will L and William were again very solid in defense. Lennon, Harry MS and Edward continue to pose a real threat to teams with their attacking play and it was also great to see Harry T make his long awaited come back.
I think we have the basis for a very good team going forwards. Just need to work on team work a little but overall very happy with them and as always we can all be very proud of the team!
