Solid away win against an improved Calverley B Team

1st Quarter
Harvey (GK), Will L, William, Harry MS, Evan, Lennon.

Very close opening quarter with Calverley B showing great improvement from the last time we played them. I think this caught our players by surprise a little and they took a bit of time to settle. But they did settle and started to create chances. Lennon had a good effort go just wide before Evan latched onto a great pass from Will L to slot home making 0 – 1.
0 – 1

2nd Quarter
Harvey (GK), Will L, William, Harry MS, Ollie, Lennon.

Much better from the Dragons this quarter dominating the play in all areas. This dominance was turned into goals with great team work and clinical finishing. First up was a fantastic team goal, Lennon winning the ball and passing to Ollie, Ollie in turn passing to Harry MS, Lennon had carried on his run and Harry MS found him with a great through ball and Lennon applied a great finish. The Dragons third came from a great run by Harry MS who then feed the ball through to Lennon for his second of the game. The quarter finished with a great solo goal, Harry MS receiving the ball deep in his own half, showing great feet to take on a couple of players before racing clear to score. 0 – 4.
0 – 4

3rd Quarter
Harvey (GK), Will L, William, Ollie, Evan, Harry MS.

Dragons lost their way a little in this period. Calverley had lots of the ball early on and were rewarded when the Dragons just couldn’t clear the danger area and eventually a Calverley player slotted home. The Dragons did react to this and were unlucky not to get another when the Calverley keeper made a fantastic save from a powerful William effort after good work by Harry MS had found him on the edge of the box. Unfortunately towards the end of the quarter the players switched off totally when defending a Calverley throw in and they took advantage to make it 2 – 4.
2 – 4

4th Quarter
Ollie (GK), Will L, William, Lennon, Evan, Harry MS.

The final period saw some great football by both teams. End to end stuff with chances for both teams. The first real chance fell the Dragons way when some pinball in the Calverley box fell to Lennon who unluckly hit the post. Great defending by Will L and a superb save from Ollie kept the scoreline at 2 – 4. Likewise at the opposite end the Calverley keeper was showing great bravery and ability to deny Harry MS, Lennon and William from adding to the total.
2 – 4

Summary.
Bit of a mixed bag from our players today. Some really good football, three of the four goals were great team efforts, but they did have periods during the game where they just didn’t seem to be “on it”. That said it was still a good result against a much improved Calverley B team. Their goalkeeper in particular shone with some great saves especially during that final period.

Will L was awarded player of the match for his excellent defensive work. Will L was well supported in his duties by William who also caused a threat when venturing forwards. Harvey did a great job in goal, as did Ollie during the last period with one outstanding save. Ollie and Evan also showed great steel and team work in midfield. With Lennon and Harry Ms showing pace and great attacking play.

Well done team another good result in what has so far been a very good season for us.
