Fifteen goals! Five each for Lennon Kerry and William Roberts send the Dragons flying!

1st Quarter
Harvey (GK), Harry T, William, Lennon, Evan, Harry MS.
Superb start from the Dragons taking the lead within the first moments of the quarter. Harry MS latching onto a Harry T through ball to make it 0 – 1. This was quickly followed by an almost identical goal this time it was Lennon getting onto Harry T’s pass. The Dragons continued to dominate with good chances for Harry MS and Lennon before Harry MS made it 0 – 3 with a great solo effort. Two more goals just before the break, Evan grabbing his first after a fine pass from Lennon and Lennon banging in a William cross, making it 0 – 5 Dragons in total control.
0 – 5

2nd Quarter
Harvey (GK), Harry T, William, Evan, Lennon, Thomas.
More of the same second quarter. William had a great long range shot that went just wide before the goals started flowing again. William grabbed the first of his five for the day after a neat pass from Lennon. Lennon then tapped home a great Evan cross. To try and help the Stanningley players we allowed them to add an extra player. But it didn’t really make any difference. A quick fire double from William followed, both great finishes, the first in particular a powerful effort from outside the box 0 – 9. Lennon was unlucky with another great effort from distance as the quarter ended and the game was really done.
0 – 9

3rd Quarter
Harry MS (GK), Evan, Harvey, Harry T, Thomas, William.
We emphasised to our players the importance of passing now that Stanningley had an extra man and they didn’t disappoint. William broke free to add his forth with a low finish. Harry T showed some great feet to dance his way past a few tackles to get his only goal of the game. Great team passing setup chances for Harry T and Thomas before the ball broke to Evan to get his second. Then William wrapped up the quarter with his final (and fifth) goal of the game.
0 – 13

4th Quarter
Harvey (GK), Harry MS, Thomas, Harry T, Evan, Lennon.
In the final quarter we mixed up our boys positions and allowed Stanningley to field all eight of their available players. Much of this quarter was school playground stuff as the Stanningley team surrounded our players. But credit to the Dragons they still managed to pass the ball and tackle well. This was in evidence as Lennon nicked the ball from a Stanningley player and raced away to get his forth. The scoring was completed when Harry T worked some space on the right and played a powerful cross into the box. Thomas miss kicked but luckily it fell to Lennon who finished neatly to make it five for him and 0 – 15 to the Dragons.
0 – 15

Summary
The long trek to Stanningley was well rewarded with a comfortable win against a very inexperienced Stanningley side. The quick start was very encouraging and that laid the foundations for some very good football in the first two quarters. We are starting seeing signs of good teamwork in that they are now starting to pass the ball more but more importantly they are attacking and defending as a team.
Also great to see the goals spread out through the team. William getting man of the match due to his new found goal scoring exploits! A much tougher challenge coming up next week against Calverley United A, let’s see how far the team has come.
